Future For Sale - Synopsis
Is it time to acknowledge that the problems we face today are inextricably linked to our global economic system? In Future for Sale filmmaker Maja Borg will investigate why a radical departure from our monetary-based economy might be the only way to save the environment and with it humankind.
But is such global change possible? Challenging her own disillusions, Maja adopts a more positive attitude; a futuristic vision of a better world, and embarks on a journey to find out. Discovering the potentials of an alternative economy she asks: How would we evolve if our society was motivated by something deeper than profit and…
Can we afford not to create a world without money?
Maja’s journey will take us to the USA, China and Ecuador, in the footsteps of 92-year-old futurist, industrial engineer, architect and social designer Jacque Fresco, who has spent his entire life finding solutions for fundamental, positive change to our present economic system. Following key moments of his life, Maja travels from the beginning of last century into an optimistic vision of a “post-scarcity” future. She takes a playful and provocative look at the world through the eyes of Jacque and his futurist peers, some of whom are tirelessly working towards making this vision become a reality.
A thought-provoking film with eccentric and engaging characters and Sci-Fi style visuals.

I am a recent associate over the last year of Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows of The Venus Project. Everything I have seen and heard so far about The Venus Project is based on the real world on real terms. This includes both the physical and social environments espoused. If we have the creative craftsmanship to erect the Millau Viaduct and manage somehow to hold together a social organization over the years like the United Nations though you may argue about its effectiveness the fact remains that we as a species do have what they call the where for all to begin such a thing as The Venus Project. Since I have met Jacque and Roxanne I have been doing a reassessment of my own paradigms and I have found them to rest upon shaky ground. What I mean is that the global economic system no matter how it is spun by the talking heads is predicated for failure and not predicated for success. It goes back to an old adage which states guess what if you do not plan the party don’t be so surprised if no one shows up and the party I am referring to is our worlds economic future. And there is a very simple reason as to why just ask yourself where is the economic system going and I am talking about the grand scale the planetary scale of plans, missions, goals, methods, strategies, tactics and all the things that a fully engaged planetary population should given our population growth and shifting resources capabilities should be discussing at the very highest levels but interfaced across all of our worlds social platforms. The Venus Project addresses the above elements with a clarity not seen elsewhere due to the length of time Jacque and Roxanne have been working on its social and physical framework. Some like myself may be concerned about the ramifications of a completely computer operated world and why, well what if the system crashes out. It happens all the time where I work, one can only expect this type of situation to happen from time to time like if a massive Solar Flair were to erupt effecting power systems all around the world, but this is only a technical issue that I am sure can be worked out.
One thing is certain that no matter what differences there seems to be either between myself or what other people may have with The Venus Project as crafted it is fair and equitable on all levels demonstrating trough the diligence of Jacque and Roxanne how far we can go in terms of the enhancement of the human condition. I see where it can only help and not hurt our world situation. As a result of that I now stand with Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows in full support of The Venus Project.
It is time to begin our world’s great transition forward and The Venus Project stands as the first premiere project on our world looking ahead.
To everyone all my love and respect,

As a software engineer, and electrical engineer by hobby, I can attest that you needn’t worry about computer systems flaking out if engineered correctly. Remember, our space shuttle has no less than five distinctly different computers on-board, all running the exact same program in total synchronicity with each other.
If any one or two of the computers gives different results from the remaining three or four, then those that differ are “out-voted”, the results of the majority are taken as correct, AND the failure is logged for engineers on the ground to work on. In most cases, it’s merely due to cosmic ray interference.
Mainframe computers from IBM have uptimes measured in decades, complete with hot-swappable CPUs. These use the same basic technology — they’re called “voting circuits.”
DO NOT EVER, EVER, EVER mistake the utter *TRIPE* that comes out of Microsoft or any Microsoft-supported industry as being representative of any computer system. The PC market represents only 5% (yes, that is five percent) of the total installed computer base in our world today. 95% of computers are “embedded” into other devices (e.g., your refrigerator, microwave oven, washers and dryers, your car, et. al.) and you virtually NEVER see these devices fail. And, these don’t have voting circuits and zero redundancy!
Therefore, your fear of failing computers, while valid considering your own conscious exposure is of Windows-based PCs, is in the larger scope of things unwarranted. Every time you turn on a light switch, pick up the phone, move the mouse on the desk (yep, it has a whole embedded computer built into it, independent of your desktop PC!), turn the ignition of your car on, step into an elevator, purchase anything at all anywhere, wear a wristwatch, use laundry machines, or even cook food in a microwave oven, you are using computers. And, they don’t fail.
